Brussels Is Fighting Terror With Cats


When you are located in a city where the police have requested that nobody tweets any pictures of the military operation happening just outside your door amid a city-wide lockdown, there really isn’t much you can do other than to obey their command. However, Twitter users in Brussels have come up with an ingenious way to help relieve some of the pressure while still obeying the police request. They filled the #BrusselsLockdown hashtag using what is probably the Internet’s favorite animal, the cat.

Belgian authorities have announced that various operations are underway in response to the country being linked to a “terrorist threat,” and the entire city is under maximum security alert as of Saturday. Initially, people tweeted pictures of police officers guarding hotels and roadblocks in the streets. Seeing as authorities have asked for complete “radio silence” regarding the operation, the Internet has decided to find an alternative way of broadcasting the entire situation, and that involves posting hilarious pictures of our feline friends.
