2. CAT-PROOF YOUR HOME

We have all heard of the saying that curiosity killed the cat and though the expression is mainly used to describe human behavior, cats are truly inquisitive creatures who will meticulously explore every corner of your home.

In order to ensure that nothing can cause them harm in your household, you need to cat-proof your house or apartment, which means that you should secure or get rid of any items that could be harmful to your new family member. These include plants poisonous to cats (most household plants are toxic to felines, mind you), chemical cleaners, plastic bags, some human foods and so on.

Of course, you need to be aware that just because you have placed something on the top shelf doesn’t mean that your cat can’t reach it – they can and they will, and it’s your job to keep them safe in their new home.
